Beach holidays in Deia...
GENERAL
Deia is a picturesque seaside village on the northern coast of Majorca. Sheltered by hillside olive groves and full of quaint little cobblestone streets, Deia is a pretty and tranquil holiday destination that has long been a favourite of artists and writers. The resort was home to English poet Robert Graves, and you can still see his old house in the town.
The secluded beaches and relaxed nightlife make Deia a favourite with families and couples, conveniently located just an hour from Palma Airport.
The resort has a number of beaches and tiny shingle coves that are fun to explore and sunbathe on. The calm, clear water is safe for kids and a pleasure to swim in, and the conditions are excellent for snorkelling.
Deia's rural landscapes and hills are incredibly beautiful, and it's easy to see how the resort has inspired artists for years. The countryside invites long, scenic walks, treks and bike rides. A good spot for enjoying the views is the Sa Pedrisa watchtower, easily reachable on foot.
The town centre is a charming area, speckled with historic houses and narrow streets. It is a pleasant place to wander through on sunny afternoons, lined with little boutiques and local shops where you can browse for unique gifts and crafts. You can even visit Ca N'Alluny, Robert Graves' former home that has been carefully restored and opened as an interesting museum.
Deia's nightlife and dining is easy-going and local, focusing on a delicious meal at one of the authentic restaurants and easy going bars. Main Street and the breezy seafront are a great place to go for fresh seafood, as well as tapas and traditional Spanish favourites. Enjoy live Spanish music at the Sa Fando bar or relax on the seafront with a glass of the local wine.
