Denmark holidays...

GENERAL

Enjoying a characteristically laid-back Scandinavian mentality, amazingly picturesque countryside and clean, cosmopolitan cities, Denmark is a beautiful northern paradise with much to offer its visitors.

The landscapes of Denmark exude rustic charm with long expanses of flat, green farmland peppered with charming picture-perfect villages, where traditional rural life is still very much alive. It's easy to forget that the country is home to many spectacular beaches and a 450-strong archipelago of islands ideal for exploring on a Denmark holiday.

Most people on a holiday to Denmark head to Zealand, where the country's capital lies. Head north from Copenhagen and you'll find a gorgeous coastline of fine white sandy beaches and shallow waters. Denmark is a popular destination for lovers of the Great Outdoors, with rolling forests and lakes perfect for exploring, while you can pretty much cycle everywhere in the country. Fishing, however, is Denmark's most loved pastime and the lakes, rivers and seas provide rich pickings for anglers.

The compact, cool and friendly city of Copenhagen is a criminally underrated European destination and offers wonderfully-preserved medieval streets, celebrated art galleries and museums, beaches, excellent shopping and Michelin-starred restaurants. The city's nightlife is probably the best in Scandinavia with the NÞrrebro district particularly lively, while in the summer the streets and parks come to life with music from open air concerts and jazz gigs.
