Once a peaceful fishing village, Magaluf's rapid development started in the 60s, turning the place into a teeming tourist resort and creating an image of itself as the party capital of Majorca. Of course, this resort's all-out assault on your senses isn't for everyone, which is why it attracts only those who love sun, fun and party. Having said that, over the last 10 years or so, Magaluf has tried hard to retrieve its wider appeal, destroying high-rise hotels and building a smart, new palm tree-lined promenade.
But that's not to say that nightlife still isn't firmly on the agenda. Package holidays in Magaluf offer uncomplicated, honest enjoyment - and it's a recipe that seems to work, year after year. The resort is very British too - with restaurants offering exactly the sort of food you expect (although there are decent Spanish restaurants too!), and sports bars serving a decent pint of bitter.
In high summer, cheap holidays to Magaluf attract the under 25s, but their exuberance is kept in check, as this family-friendly Majorca resort never feels unwelcoming, even when the clubs (eventually) empty out! People come to Magaluf to have a good time, make new friends, and share that warm, reviving Majorcan sunshine. And, essentially, isn't that what all good holidays are about? Whenever your spirits are in need of a shake up, why not take a last minute holiday to Magaluf and join in the party.
In the winter months the resort is much calmer and offers a peaceful Majorca holiday destination. Whichever season you choose, your Majorca flight will take you to Palma Airport, a sensible one-hour transfer time to Magaluf.
