One of the richest cities in Germany, Dusseldorf is a posh and modern city; it attracts both money-makers who live to shop and the money-despisers who live for art. The birthplace for stars such as supermodel Claudia Schiffer, artist Jörg Immendorff and Germany's most popular rock band, Die Toten Hosen Dusseldorf's strong points are fashion, art and music.

Still the heart of the city, the traffic free Altstadt, the old town centre is home to shops, boutiques and pubs tucked away on narrow cobbled lanes. Immediately south of here are some the most important museums and galleries, K20 is famous for its masterpieces by Klee, Picasso and Dalí. K21 is the city's newest contemporary art museum, containing works by Nam June Paik and Bill Viola, and showcasing the latest photographic, sculptural and painting talent.

The Media Harbour, is the centre of Dusseldorf's nightlife, you'll find the best choice for exquisite but reasonable food, after a meal dance the night away at one of the popular clubs. A city break to Dusseldorf should not disappoint it is a city alive culturally and it has a rocking bar and club scene.
