A holiday to Cala Vinas sets you in a peaceful resort in the southwest of Majorca, just a short taxi-ride away from Magaluf. You get the best of both worlds on a Cala Vinas holiday - the secluded coves, lush green backdrop of trees and soft sands provide a relaxing atmosphere, yet you can still enjoy plenty of thrilling day trips and buzzing nights if you want to!

Beaches

The beach at Cala Vinas consists of a winding strip, quite slim at times, snaking around the headland. There are wider stretches of soft sand, but also small, shingled coves where you can get more privacy. The area is popular with yachters due to the shape of the peninsula, and there are plenty of watersports activities available too.

Places to see

The Caves of Drach - known as the 8th wonder around these parts - are a perfect example of an essential sight for your Majorca holiday. They consist of three cave systems, have wow-factor stalactites and stalagmites and a huge submerged lake. There are plenty of other activities to be had nearby - the Golf de Poniente is a magnificent 18-hole golf course a few miles away from Cala Vinas.

Eating Out

There are a couple of small traditional cafes near the resort, such as La Caberna - a traditional cafeteria on Calle de los Sirenes - but Cala Vinas is mainly an all-inclusive Majorca resort, so most of the food and drink is to be found within the hotels. Orient, a Chinese restaurant also on the Calle de los Sirenes road serves good-priced Chinese food, and the restaurant San Franciso has a varied, international menu.

Shopping

In Cala Vinas, most of the shopping opportunities are of the tourist variety - so expect to see lots of Lladro pottery and hand-crafted ceramics, leather goods, and a great deal of cheap and cheerful souvenirs. There are also pharmacies and shops where you can buy essential items such as groceries, toiletries and beachwear for your self-catering holiday to Majorca. The Torviscas market, every Thursday and Saturday, provides much more shopping variety for your Cala Vinas holiday.

Nightlife

Cala Vinas has a laid-back nightlife, with family-friendly entertainment in the hotels, and beachfront bars that don't get too overcrowded. If you want a little more noise, head to Punta Ballena near Magaluf, which has plenty of bars, karaoke stops and superclubs such as BCM, Revolution and Bananas - this is where the night time action can be found on your Majorca holiday.
