Explore one of the most amazing landscapes in Europe with a holiday to Iceland...

GENERAL

There's stunning nature, and then there's Iceland. Europe's most sparsely populated nation is also one the most beautiful and awe-inspiring. Awaiting you in Iceland is a mesmerising lunar landscape, a phenomenon of nature.

A land of imperious volcanoes, boiling geysers, crashing torrents, geothermal pools, diverse wildlife, the Northern Lights, mighty waterfalls, colossal glaciers and dramatic fjords - this is nature at its most wild and majestic.

Add into the mix a lively, stylish and colourful capital city - where half the county's population reside, many activities that take full advantage of the uniqueness of Iceland's big outdoors and a friendly welcome from the laid-back locals and you have a once-in-a-lifetime (unless you're really lucky) holiday destination.

Reykjavik is the starting point for any holiday to Iceland, and as the major settlement on the island, it serves as the perfect base from which to visit the Northern Lights, volcanoes or any of the island's immense natural offerings for that matter. And what a base it is! Enjoy a 24/7 lifestyle with plenty of pulsating, unpretentious clubs, pubs and fashionable cocktails bars.

The shopping is excellent with lots of chic boutiques and designer stores, while there is a thriving modern arts scene best seen at the Reykjavik Art Museum.

The city's biggest draw is perhaps the Blue Lagoon, a world famous geothermal spring, where the warm waters are rich in mineral content and said to have healing properties. Certainly very relaxing at least.

There are masses of things to do on a holiday to Iceland. Its Atlantic Ocean location makes it a paradise for whale, dolphin, seal and puffin spotting, while the abundant seas provide rich fishing grounds. On land, everything from hiking to skiing, horse riding to snowmobiling and bird watching to bungee jumping is offered.
