Reykjavik is the hub of all things Icelandic, and there is so much to do here that you may find yourself running out of time to do them all. Starting out with the most famous attraction of all, no holiday to Reykjavik would be complete without a visit to the Blue Lagoon thermal pool, where the seawater is said to have positive effects on the skin, whilst you relax in a lava-formed landscape. Next is the Hallgrimskirkja Church, the city's main landmark, which can be seen from almost anywhere in the city, and its stunning architecture has to be seen to be believed.

If planning a family holiday to Reykjavik, there are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained including a zoo and family park, waterslides and floating toys provided at many of the thermal pools, or young families often like to feed the ducks at Lake Tjornin, where ducks and swans can often be found.

Tax-free shopping in Reykjavik means that whether you visit one of the larger shopping centres offering high street fashions, or the quaint bookshops and galleries found street-side, you are bound to find a bargain worth taking home.

Iceland is immersed in coffee shop culture and you will notice this as soon as you take a holiday in Reykjavik, due to the multitude found on practically every street corner of the city. Restaurants are very cosmopolitan in the food that they serve, with every taste from Oriental to Italian, although Reykjavik's specialities are fresh fish and organic meats prepared simply.
