A brief history of MyTravel...
MyTravel started life modestly in 1972, when founder David Crossland bought Pendle Travel Service Ltd, two small travel agencies in Lancashire. The beginning of the 1980s saw the company expand into the tour package industry and in 1986 the company renamed itself Airtours and concentrated solely on operating tour packages.
Years of rapid expansion followed, including the acquisitions of airlines and cruise operators and in 2002 Airtours rebranded as MyTravel Group plc. On 19 June 2007 MyTravel Group plc and Thomas Cook AG merged to form Thomas Cook Group plc, a leading international leisure travel group.
