Higher on the island, pine trees and Canary Island juniper grow abundantly, and it is here you can find native species of birds and lizards, specific to this archipelago. There are many hiking trails offering great views over the island.

As well as the natural beauty of La Palma, the cities have much to offer its visitors, from great restaurants to charming historic buildings. Santa Cruz de la Palma is the capital, featuring colourful buildings, pretty plazas, and is also home to the island's main port.
