The relaxed beach resort of Matagorda is located on Lanzarote's southern coast. The spectacular coastline, superb fresh cuisine and easy going nightlife make holidays in Matagorda well suited to couples and family beach breaks. The resort is well-situated for day trips and tours of the island, just 15 minutes from Lanzarote Airport.

Matagorda has 6km of soft, golden sand beaches, which were awarded the Blue Flag award for water quality and cleanliness. The shallow shore and lifeguard presence makes it suitable for children, and there are plenty of sun beds and parasols for relaxing throughout the day. Along the beachfront is a colourful promenade, dotted with waterfront bars and cafés as well as shops.

There are a variety of water sports and activities to enjoy along the coast. The diving in Lanzarote is excellent, with centres nearby catering to all skill levels where you can take excursions out to wrecks and exotic reefs. A relaxing boat tour is a favourite way to see the island, or hop over to neighbouring Fuerteventura.

Matagorda has a pleasant town centre with a variety of little cafés and souvenir shops to browse. If you're up for a little more choice, nearby Puerto del Carmen is a fun spot for a day trip, with a lively entertainment hub with great places to shop. Kids will also love a trip out to the island's amusement parks, including the Ocean Water Park and Puerto del Carmen's Wild West theme park.

The resort has plenty of quality places to eat, with superb freshly-caught seafood and authentic Canarian dishes available. There is also a good selection of pizzerias and international restaurants to cater for everyone. The seafront is a beautiful spot to relax at sun set, and if you're up for something a little livelier on your Matagorda holiday, the hotel's bars and discos are the place to be.
