Prague city breaks...
Situated in the heart of Europe, the Czech capital is among the most beautiful cities in the world. It's known as the 'City of a Thousand Spires'
Prague is stunning assortment of cobbled streets, town squares, church spires and Gothic statues, as well as medieval, Baroque and Art Nouveau architectural styles contribute to its medieval charm. It's hard not to be captivated by this spellbinding city.
A city for all...
Few cities can match the romantic atmosphere of Prague, and it remains an ever popular destination for weekend breaks and getaways for couples. The vibrant nightlife, which has exploded in the city in recent years, also makes it a top destination for groups of friends looking for a lively clubbing break.
A Unesco city...
The entire city centre of Prague is a Unesco World Heritage site. Dramatic Prague Castle dominates the skyline and remains an essential sightseeing must for city breaks in Prague. The vast complex includes three courtyards, fearsome fortifications and turrets, and elegant gardens, as well as the Cathedral of St Vitus, the Old Royal Palace and the Strahov Monastery.
The magnificent medieval Old Town Square is a wonderfully romantic setting and the bustling heart of the city. It's home to some of Prague's most iconic sights including the Astronomical Clock and the Old Town City Hall. The ancient Jewish Quarter is also a popular tourist area, while the medieval Charles Bridge is the city's most photographed landmark and a must for any city break in Prague.
The ancient Jewish Quarter is also a popular tourist area, while the medieval Charles Bridge is the city's most photographed landmark and a must for any city break in Prague.
The main social hub of the city is the famous Wenceslas Square in the 'New Town'. More a boulevard than square, it's the main shopping area and centre of evening and nocturnal activities. Here, you'll find fashionable boutiques, excellent restaurants, bars and nightspots where you can sample the famously good Czech beer, which is even more famously - very cheap! Elsewhere, the pretty café-filled squares are where you'll find locals taking lunch and it's here you'll get the chance to experience some customary Czech delicacies.
Although often associated with stag-dos and hen parties, the nightlife you'll discover on your Prague holiday is far more varied than that. Undeniably it has its wild side with a huge range of modern nightclubs with top international DJs playing to revellers from all over Europe. Although you'll find many smoky jazz cellars, rooftop cocktail bars, casinos and live music venues too. This is a city well-equipped to enjoy itself.
For an old-fashioned experience you can head to a traditional beer hall where amber-coloured Czech lager flows freely from the taps. Or check out the charming wood-panelled pubs hidden among the medieval streets, where locals can be found relaxing in the summer beer gardens.
With plenty of accommodation to cater for the roaring trade the city has seen recently, you have the option of staying in a small and stylish boutique hotel, a super-cheap budget hotel, a grand luxury property or even a townhouse offering bed and breakfast.
