A holiday hotspot amongst the Brits, Tenerife hasn't fallen out of favour since it was discovered by sun-seekers back in the 80s. Luckily it's the largest of the Canary Islands so you'll never feel too overcrowded on a Tenerife holiday, and with hundreds of attractions and excursions, you definitely won't be stuck doing the same thing twice.

Split into two, while the north side of the island is bursting with lush greenery and banana plantations, it's the south side you want if you're looking for a carnival of colourful activities. Full of all-inclusive resorts, self-catering apartments and cheap hotels, Los Cristianos and Playa de Las Americas are considered the liveliest locations in Tenerife and are adored by families, couples and groups of friends looking for a good time. With bars, nightclubs and restaurants on your doorstep, you don't even have to leave the promenade to find yourself a party.

But if you want to get out and about, head to the centre of the island where Mount Teide lies dormant. The third largest volcano in the world and the reason behind Tenerife's mountainous landscape and ash black sands, journey to the top by cable car and appreciate the island's beauty at your leisure.
