You'll find an impressive range of historic treasures on a holiday to Varna. The ornate 19th century Cathedral of the Assumption, the second largest church in Bulgaria, is well worth a look. Just a short walk away lies the outstanding Archaeological Museum. Arguably the finest museum in Bulgaria, it charts the renarmarkable history of the region all the way back to Neolithic times. The remnants of the Roman baths, which date back nearly two millennia are also a highlight.

If you require a little retail therapy on your holiday in Varna, you'll find the city is a shopper's paradise. Varna has modern shopping malls housing many fashionable international brands, while there is also an abundance of chic boutiques and jewellers. For a traditional shopping experience there is a bustling, colourful market next to the cathedral.

Eating & drinking...

Varna's culinary scene is comprised mainly of exquisite European-influenced bistros and authentic Bulgarian eateries. Here you can dine on delicacies such as spiced lamb and pork kebabs and stews, and freshly caught seafood. The nightlife in the city is vibrant with many cutting-edge clubs and chic bars, primarily concentrated in the pedestrianised quarter around ploshtad Nezavisimost.
